Introduction
The IMO’s Marine Environmental Protection Committee at its 62nd session adopted new regulations for the Energy Efficiency of Ships (EEDI and SEEMP) in July 2011 as resolution MEPC 203(62) and supporting Guidelines at its 63rd session in March 2012 as resolutions MEPC 212(63) and MEPC 214(63) - see below for PDF documents. The regulations entered into force on 1 January 2013. The IMO continues to work on guidelines for the EEDI and further measures for the control of GHG emissions from ships.
