Update: GABON’S CARBON LEVY FOR MARITIME TRANSPORT

Rules of the Registry

Further to our previous circular (ref: 0425-F/TC >(REGIONAL REQUIREMENTS)  Gabon’s Carbon Levy for Maritime Transport) you may see attached the rules of the registry thanks to our Associate member BUREAU VERITAS (BV).

• The scheme is in operation for two years now for Djibouti
• The scheme will be implemented in Gabon in a similar manner.
• More countries of the African union are expected to join.
• A Carbon Contribution Payment is set at US$17 per tCO₂e, capped at US$7,500 per vessel movement.
