Update on 13 Feb 2023
IMO issued a circular MSC.1/Circ.1503/Rev.2 on ECDIS – Guidance for Good Practice as attached, dated 28 November 2022. This circular supersedes MSC.1/Circ.1503/Rev.1, issued in 2017.
Drawing together relevant guidance from seven previous ECDIS circulars into a single, consolidated document, the updated guidance includes, in particular, a new section on onboard ECDIS updates. Ship operators, masters and deck officers on ECDIS-fitted ships are encouraged to use this Guidance to improve their understanding and facilitate safe and effective use of ECDIS.
