The IMSBC Code provides information and requirements for the carriage of DIRECT REDUCED IRON (DRI).
DRI comes in a number of forms: DRI (A), DRI (B), DRI (C) and in the latest revision of the IMSBC Code (Amendment 07-23 – Mandatory from 01 January 2025) DRI (D) is included.
The information, guidance, and requirements for the carriage of DRI (D) within the IMSBC Code are complex and relatively lengthy.
The International Group of P&I Clubs (IG) Clubs (IG) in conjunction with Dr J H Burgoyne & Partners LLP (Burgoynes’), with input from INTERCARGO (INTERCARGO’s Cargo Panel), have produced a circular on DRI (D). Available to download below.
The circular includes a summary of main points, of DRI (D), within the IMSBC Code and, where appropriate, additional guidance and observational notes have been added.
