Outcome of the IMO NCSR 7

The 7th session of the IMO’s Sub-Committee on Navigation, Communications and Search and Rescue (NCSR 7) was held from 15 to 24 Jan 2020. A briefly update on following items is provided for reference of INTERCARGO members:

  • Routeing Measures and Mandatory Ship Reporting Systems
  • Revision of Guidelines on Places of Refuge for Ships in Need of Assistance (Resolution A.949(23))
  • Revision of SOLAS Chapters IIII and IV for modernization of the Global Maritime Distress And Safety System (GMDSS), including related and consequential amendments to other existing Instruments
  • Revision of the Guidelines for Vessel Traffic Services (Resolution A.857(20))
  • Maritime Services in The Context of E-navigation
  • Updating of the GMDSS Master Plan and Guidelines on Maritime Safety Information (MSI)
  • Developments in relation to the operation of the LRIT system
