PSC Inspection on MARPOL Annex VI

Update on 13 Feb 2022:

MEPC.321(74) on 2019 Guidelines for port State control under MARPOL Annex VI chapter 3 was revoked by IMO Assembly resolution A. 1155(32) as adopted on 15 Dec 2021.

On 28 Jan 2022, IMO published resolution A. 1155(32), as attached, containing a new version of the IMO Procedures for port State control, 2021 which also revokes resolution A.1138(31) containing the older version of Procedures for port State control, 2019.

Feedback shows concerns about how PSC inspection would be carried out from 2020. Here is to summarise the latest development of PSC inspection on MARPOL Annex VI and related IMO requirements, guidelines and circulars supporting the consistent implementation of the 0.50% sulphur limit, to assist INTERCARGO members in preparing for relevant PSC inspection.
