Panama Canal and Its Tolls Structure

It has been 3 years since the Expanded Panama Canal welcomed its first vessel on June 26, 2016. It was reported the Panama Canal held a public hearing on its tolls structure modifications proposal on 24 Jul 2019, highlighting:

  • the Panama Canal Board of Directors will approve the final proposal after a careful evaluation and an analysis of the comments received and incorporating all considerations into the tolls structure;
  • the proposed date for implementation of the modifications to the tolls structure is January 1, 2020.
