Outcome of IMO meeting on Ship Systems and Equipment (SSE 5)

The IMO’s Sub-Committee on Ship Systems and Equipment held its 5th session (SSE 5) in London on 12-16 Mar 2018.

Issues on the agenda of SSE 5 include fire-fighting (on Ro-Ro passenger ships), development of guidelines for cold ironing, life-saving appliances, lifting appliances/winches, etc. The first two items are more related to passenger and cruise ships. The life-saving one is of more general nature. The last one – lifting appliance, is common but more relevant to bulk carriers. Here are some details for your reference.
