The 2023 IMO Strategy on reduction of GHG emissions from ships highlights three aspects to reach zero or near-zero GHG emission: new technologies, fuels and/or energy sources. Developments of those aspects are expected to call for a responding strategy to upgrade seafarer skills to use the technology, fuels and/or energy sources onboard safely.
